      Steps to Apply to the Associate Degree Nursing Program

      IMPORTANT:

      Application packets and information session dates for the next application period will be posted AFTER September 1, 2022!

       

      The LVN-RN Bridge program is offered at the Waxahachie and Corsicana campuses.
      Please follow the steps to below to apply to the program.

       

      STEP 1: BECOME ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR ADN ADMISSION
      REQUIRED

      • Attend an Information Session.
      • See Information Session Schedule
        Apply to Navarro College
      • Apply to Navarro College if you're not already a student
      • Prior to acceptance to the program, you should be on Pre-Bachelor of Science in Nursing-A.S (AS.BDN)
        Transcripts
      • Send all OFFICIAL transcripts from each college/university attended to Navarro College Office of Admissions and Records (Corsicana Campus)
        ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)
      • Take the TEAS test.
      • Students may take the TEAS test twice during each application cycle (March 1, 2022 - Application deadline for 2023 admission).
      • Only one set of scores will be accepted.
      The ATI TEAS is designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness entering the health science fields. Most likely, you've been asked to take the TEAS as part of your basic admissions requirements for nursing or allied health school. That's because studies show a consistent link between a student's performance on the TEAS and future academic success.
       
      *To be eligible for admission, students applying for the NC ADN program MUST achieve a total score of 66% or greater.
       

       

       

      STEP 2: APPLY FOR ADMISSION TO THE ADN PROGRAM
      Mail or hand deliver a hard copy of the following documents:

      • Download application: ADN Application for Admission
      • Application MUST be typed. Handwritten applications will not be considered.
      • See application deadlines
        Transcripts
      • Include unofficial transcripts from EACH college and/or university you have attended, including Navarro College in your ADN application packet.
        ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)
      • Include first page of TEAS test results
        Degree Audit Transcript
      • Include a copy of your Degree Audit Transcript obtained via Self-Service under unofficial transcripts.
      • Must be under the correct degree plan. Contact the Registrar's Office for assistance.

       STEP 3: BEGIN GATHERING DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION 
      Immediately begin working on completing the following immunization requirements and/or gathering documented proof of immunizations.
      You can mail or hand deliver copies of documentation. Documentation is due on application deadline.
       IMMUNIZATION TYPE
        IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENT
        HepB vaccine series
        or
        Positive Antibody Titer
      • Must show completion of dose #1 & #2 by application deadline.
      • Dose #3 MUST be completed one week prior to program orientation day.
      • Proof of a complete HepB vaccine series, or
      • a Positive Antibody Titer.
      •  Series takes 6 months, so start NOW

       

      Upon acceptance to the ADN Bridge progam, the following immunization records must uploaded to CastleBranch prior to orientation.

       

       IMMUNIZATION TYPE
        IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENT
        Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)
        or
        Positive Antibody Titer
      • Two immunizations for Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), or
      • a Positive Antibody Titer showing immunity to all three.
        Varicella (Chicken pox)
        or
        Positive Antibody Titer
      • Two immunizations for Varicella (Chicken pox) or
      • a Positive Antibody Titer
        TDAP  
      • Proof of one dose of TDAP
        • If no record then, you will need to receive TDAP.
        • If TDAP was administered > 10 years ago, you will need TD booster. TD booster is required every ten years thereafter.
        Influenza
      • One influenza injection to cover flu season then again fall of the admission year.
      • Will be repeated annually, in fall for clinical
        HepB vaccine series
        or
        Positive Antibody Titer
      • Proof of a complete HepB vaccine series, or
      • a Positive Antibody Titer.
      •  Series takes 6 months, so start NOW
      Covid 19
      Upload verification of 1 dose of J&J or two doses of Pfizer or Moderna. Boosters are not required but that is subject to change. 
       

       

      STEP 4: WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
      Once you have completed STEPS 1 and 2, the ADN program will submit your name to the Texas Board of Nursing (TxBON) as a qualified applicant. The TxBON will submit your name to IdentoGO (fingerprinting agency). You should receive a link to register for fingerprints. DO NOT REGISTER FOR FINGERPRINTS UNTIL YOU ARE OFFERED ADMISSION.  AFTER fingerprints are processed, applicants will receive a blue card or an operations outcome letter from the Texas Board of Nursing.
       
      Faculty will meet, in order to rank all qualified applicants. Offers of admission will be sent out by April 1, 2023.
       
      Admission letters will include important information regarding important next steps which will include:
      •  Registering for Fingerprints
      • Submission of blue card or operations outcome letter sent to you by the TxBON 
      • Registration for drug screening
      • Proof of Amerian Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider CPR (Do not complete this step before May 2020).
      • Proof of TB skin test. (Do not complete this step before May 2023).
      • Information regarding MANDATORY program orientation 
        • LVN-RN Bridge Orientation = April 21, 2023
      • Information regarding dates for clinical site orientation
      • Verification of Social Security card
      • Proof of Health Insurance
      • Registering with CastleBranch
